At a popular vacation destination in Crimea every evening the entertainer Lyudmila Pashkova hosts "Where are you, talents?" - a friendly competition designed to amuse vacationers. Michael Gudkov, a vacationer from the northern Russian city of Murmansk, takes up the challenge performing his favorite song "My Female Sailor". In spite of a well-received performance the host did not award a victory to him. Feeling slighted Michael decides to compete every evening with his song until he gets his well-deserved prize becoming a favorite fixture of the local competition.

Vita, an employee of a private spy agency, is handed a case of tapping into and listening to the mysterious life of a new "client". By day, her work on the case seems all the more routine; by night she's involved in a steamy and passionate affair. From this point on nothing is what it seems, as Vita becomes entangled into a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Journalist Shurik arrives in the Caucasus in order to study local culture and folklore, the ancient customs and traditions of the people in this region. Per chance he meets and befriends a girl in a mountainous town, the beauty Nina, which the gouvernor, wealthy and powerful local Saakhov, is planning to marry — if not willingly then by force. Using the gullible journalist as a strawman, Saakhov and his henchmen (the "Coward", the "Fool", and the "Pro", a trio of comic antiheros) are able to kidnap Nina, all seems to work according to plan. But realizing that he had been deceived, Shurik, who fell for Nina, rushes to rescue his beloved one, for a happy ending.

Stepanych is depressed; he's lost the meaning of life. But suddenly, fate itself shows him a way out.

The film takes place in the seventies of the XX century, in a real country of the USSR and with real Soviet people of various levels: from workers to the leaders of the country. This is a patriotic film, with love (the authors especially insist on this) telling about our homeland, about our people, about the generation of our fathers, about their achievements and defeats, everyday life and holidays, joys and sorrows.
