The Lord returns home to his estate after a stay abroad. The strongman and exuberant person he was has been peeled out of him. He has good manners but is devoid of manliness and human courage.

Hilleborg always speaks negatively about her king's marriage to his left hand, Countess Danner. When it is rumored that King Frederik VII and Countess Danner are on their way to Hilleborg and her husband, Niels Parsberg's estate, Hilleborg refuses to be in the living room with the Countess. In a small Zealand village, where everything seems to be idyllic, lives the seamstress Bolette Jensen, a bold woman who has had her share of bitter experiences and is now feared for her sharp tongue. There is a severe housing shortage in Copenhagen. Eva and Harry both respond to the same rental advertisement. According to several old writings, Cocktail means something like mixed - and mixed is probably what you could call "Dana's" first revue production. It is a mix of everything that was good and better in the summer's two big revue successes, and as an extra little splash of fruit juice at the bottom of the shaker, a single thing has been taken from "Circus Revue".
