The young couple Vladislav Eschenbach and Sofia Pshebyshevskaya arrive in Tiflis, where sun, wine, ancient architecture and new impressions await them. She is the eternal mistress; it is her trade, her way of life and thinking. He understood this well before their marriage, but he cannot come to terms with her way of life. They are overcome by vanity, by the desire for understanding, and even by despair. For each of them the views of the other are nonsense, but they still try to live together. Judas, a seasoned thief, finds himself in the market square where Christ is giving a sermon and his apostles are collecting alms. He follows them and steals their money, only to be caught red-handed. Nevertheless, the Teacher forgives him. What is more, He invites the thief to become one of His followers and offers him a position as the group’s treasurer. Shocked by Christ’s unexpected offer, Judas decides to join the apostles, if only to figure out what is going on. He gradually starts to comprehend Christ’s message, but feels that the apostles are blindly following their teacher. Judas argues with them, and tries to defend his right to divine the truth of God. But when he fails to make them understand, he realizes that Christ’s teachings may sink into oblivion without benefiting humanity. His solution is to betray Christ. “By killing a man, have I not saved a God?”

Documentary-staged film monograph, a conversation about the fate of a generation, in the center of which is one of his idols — actor, director, poet and novelist Leonid Filatov. The film was shot in connection with Leonid Filatov's unfinished game picture "The Adventures of Tolik Paramonov" based on his novel "Freedom or Death" (a Soviet dissident leaves for the West and becomes a communist there). The film was put into production in 1993 at the Rossfilm studio, but a serious illness prevented the director from finishing the production. The desire to acquaint the viewer with this work was the purpose of creating this project.
