Hong Kong's massive and unprecedented public protests and demonstrations in early July 2003 are documented in July. The film shows individual and mass reactions to the proposed national security legislation. It preserves the speeches, songs, chants, posters, and banners, as well as the atmosphere, for those who were there, and introduces them to those who were not. As such, July is a record of events that could not occur anywhere else in China.

Everyphone Everywhere’s cross-cutting narrative brings together a large set of players within the mobile-communications theme. First there’s designer Chung Chit (Endy Chow), who rushes to catch a ferry and leaves his phone at home. There’s no time to retrieve the device, so he tries to soldier on without it – and the results are eye-opening. Eventually, he’ll need to call his wife Ivy (Cecilia Choi) to awkwardly help him out. Meanwhile, soon-to-emigrate middle manager Raymond Ho (Peter Chan) starts his day with his WhatsApp account hacked and frozen. Broken contacts aside, his big fear is exposure of shady workplace practices and possible blackmail or arrest. Then there’s Ana (Rosa Maria Velasco), an old classmate of theirs who’s waiting in a private kitchen and getting odd messages. And all the time a young lady, Yanki (Amy Tang), and a nerdy computer wiz (Henick Chou) are busy using messaging apps for sleazy purposes.

For each Zelda he meets, he makes a tailor-made meal to fit their story. Putting a spotlight on the city’s struggling restaurant sector, indie filmmaker Amos WHY and his co-director Frankie Chung’s unconventional and bittersweet road movie follows a rootless man who turns to his memories to avoid confronting his unknown future. Is it better to drift with uncertainty, or to stay in your comfort zone whilst tethered to a sinking ship?

In 2019, they lost contact. Five years later, they reunite when he is reassigned to Hong Kong. Is she still holding a grudge, or is water under the bridge now?

A lonely man is hired to take care of the to-be-demolished Cheung Chau Cinema. He is greeted by a dog, two kids, and a mysterious granny who calls everyday. The film was shot in the ruin of Cheung Chau Cinema, locating in Cheung Chau, an island in Hong Kong. Before saying goodbye, he organises his own screening of The One-Armed Swordsman (1967) directed by Chang Cheh.
