Le Bouif errant

A famous painter loves Madeleine Granval, a rich and divorced society woman, who cheats on him. To console himself, he goes to Montmartre where he meets Denise Fleury, a young woman who has fallen into poverty.

The virtuous Nicole is the wife of wealthy composer Lucien. Through an error made by a dressmaker, Nicole discovers that Lucien is leading a double life, keeping the sexy Chichette as his mistress. In retaliation, Nicole kicks up her heels and begins fooling around with a reckless gigolo. When our heroine's hedonistic new lifestyle threatens the well-being of her son, a contrite Lucien returns home and promises never to stray again.

Flora Nys, a poor flower girl of Paris faces hard times. Her rent overdue, Le Baron, the landlord, oppresses her and puts before her a shady proposition. Indignantly she orders him out of her room. When she takes up her flowers, preparatory to going forth to sell them, she discovers that Le Baron has trampled on them. Tempted by her poverty she steals a fur in a department store.

Remember when Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music says "Every time God closes a door, He opens a window?" Well, this is basically the same philosophy followed by a sage authority named Professor Azais. Though he is never seen in the film, Azais's influences dictates every move made by Le Baron Wurtz (Max Dearly), a private tutor. Though he suffers quite a few setbacks, Wurtz presses on, armed by the Azaiz philosophy that every time something goes wrong in one part of the world, it is balanced by something going right elsewhere. This "law of compensations" pays off in big laughs for the audience, and in a happy-ever-after for Wurtz. Azais was based on a play by Georges Berr and Rene Verneuil.

The almost financial ruined gentleman Georges Dewalter spends several days in Biarritz before going off in the Hispano-Suiza, a luxe car which was a present from friends. George becomes the lover of Stéphane Oswill pretending he is wealthy. Then Stéphane spends the remaining funds with which the now desperate George hoped to rebuild his fortune in Senegal.

Two girls, Ginette and Gaby, have just run away, outraged by the mistreatment of their governess. After many adventures, they will find their father, who has become a thug, and their mother who had disappeared in a shipwreck.

Jean Fleury, a young engineer who has designed a revolutionary engine for the Revoil motor company, is engaged to Aimée Valois, a seamstress, his neighbor across the hall. But the charming young lady is hired one day by a nightclub and lets herself be lured by the easy life in Paris. So much so that, to Jean's great distress, she breaks up with him. But, along with time, Aimée gets tired of her vain and frivolous lifestyle and comes back to Jean.

A repentant alcoholic, Henri is promised to the young Yvonne, but he is in love with Gisèle, her sister and the fiancée of his friend Hubert. They all go on vacation, to the villa of Valentine Bourjeon, the mother of the two young girls. Henri and Gisèle begin an affair which, despite a thousand precautions, is quickly discovered. Hubert seems to be the only one not noticing anything. Mrs. Bourjeon will restore order in the sentimental life of her daughters.

Suzanne and the prince of Sylvanie fall in love with each other, but this is prohibited.
