1952, Budapest. Kati is thirteen years old when her mother dies. Her father works as a founder at the Miskolc foundry, deprived of his former position of director-engineer. Kati is left alone in their flat, transformed into a place crowded with tenants. That is, not quite: in her imagination her mother is alive again, for she still needs her.

The family consists of Géza, the father, a comical and inept figure, his wife Paula who actually dominates family affairs, pubertal daughter Kriszta and 12-year-old son Aladár, a child prodigy. These places are shrouded in secrecy and constantly attract hunters: during the Second World War, the Germans had hidden a huge treasure here. Investigation of the murders entrusted to Major Kardos. He takes up the case, but in search of treasure he had many competitors. Kardos uses help from his loyal friend - a policeman-superman Etvash aka "Droplet".

The cartoon series stars Sergeant Dandy, who solves crimes, catches crooks, burglars and thieves like a determined policeman. Dandelion's friends are Peekaboo, Blondie, Kati, and his dog, Marzipan, who also "acts as a siren". The series also has adventures for the summer, for beachgoers whose clothes have been stolen by a thief and which are of course recovered with the help of our protagonist. And in the episode "Dandy's Day Off", the series draws attention to the dangers of hiring hitchhikers.
