Twelve people are confined together in an abandoned maximum security prison in the middle of the Amazon forest, and end up having to fight for their lives against unknown creatures and supernatural odds.

The discoveries and frustrations on accessing a memory of a father and of a time in the Brazilian history that are rarely public. The young filmmaker plunges into this unknown past of her almost unknown father. He, a Brazilian intellectual, imprisoned and tortured during the military dictatorship, is silent about this since that time. A father and a fatherland that does not like to answer any questions, that loves but rarely talks.

Joana enters the universe of insecurity, replying to an application for house cleaning. She bonds with her colleagues, and their struggle for better conditions gives Joana’s life a new meaning. Her relationship with young Jaime brings back old memories. In the second part, after the death of her estranged father, Flavia (32) moves to her farm with her wife Mara. The couple suffer a shock of reality when facing the harshness of rural life. The contact with the abandoned house reveals to Flavia unknown aspects of her father. She begins to suspect that there is something supernatural in the woods.

A young mother has to face the death of her newborn son.

After her husband loses his job, Helena opens her own grocery store. Soon, increasingly strange events begin to plague her store, making her question her sanity.

After losing his job and the end of his marriage, Júnior returns to his father's house. But that is not his childhood house anymore. His old room has been rented by a young woman and the place feels unwelcome and oppressive. Júnior develops and obsession for his family history, as strange things start happening in the house.

The story of the decline of the Soares family in the final months of the 19th century. Isabel is the dying mother, and her daughters are Maria and Ana. The three women try hard to forget about their pasts in the coffee farm and face the industrial times that start to take over Brazil.

A man gets home and finds his wife dead. In a silent impulse he takes her body and plunges on the road. This man had never left his hometown, Brasília. When his wife dies, he leaves pushed by this emotional collapse, and submerges the road and it’s fortuity, searching to reconstruct his own reality. She survives in his memory. The road and its environment play an essential part in this man’s process: the landscape and the people, spontaneously. The Sun Against My Eyes follows this trip, from the countryside plateau to the fluminense hills.

Director Manoela Ziggiatti seeks what inspires and motivates our lives, depicting intimate encounters with her family and close friends to build a delicate narrative about the meaning of being alive.
