The first installment in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise, which has shipped over 30 million copies worldwide, has been adapted into a live action work that remains almost faithful to the original. Produced by the cast and staff of the hugely popular franchise Unification of Japan, which depicts the Japanese underworld, the adaptation is fully supervised by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. The story follows the events leading up to the video game Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties.

A man on a mission to investigate a "self-defense force members only" gambling den in Yokosuka begins to uncover the past of its owner.

Itoda-gumi was excommunicated from the Mishima-gumi, but the situation changed completely when Ando (Hitoshi Ozawa) was welcomed as a wakagashira. He succeeded in destroying the Mishima-gumi by inviting an internal strife in the Sekishin Houkou Renmei to overthrow him. A bloody purge by Sakaki begins against the police, who enrich themselves through yakuza and mafia-like tyranny!

Receiving a request from a marriage broker operating in a run-down area, Hidari (Hideo Nakano) and Yamato (Yasukaze Motomiya) find themselves helping with a fake marriage. Many of this broker's cases involve the Goroza family, who are involved in human trafficking and insurance fraud, manipulating household registries. Amidst this, Yamato's fake bride, Shirayuki, is brutally murdered after having her organs harvested. Angered by this heinous act, Left and Yamato, without any directive from the third-generation leader of the Kurotetsu Alliance, Sakaki (Sho Aikawa), take on a rival gang. Thus begins a bloody purge driven solely by their unbacked "chains."

The Kanto Kurogane Federation stands at the pinnacle of Japan's yakuza society. Sakaki Sai (Sho Aikawa), the young boss, secures his position with the help of his covert private force, known as the “Chain,” led by Hidari (Hideo Nakano), Yamato (Yasukaze Motomiya), and Hakase (Shiro). One day, the federation's second-generation boss is shot dead, and Sakaki is arrested as the prime suspect. In his absence, acting young boss Takewaki (Ryu Kanou) is entrusted with leading the group, eagerly bribing executives in a bid to secure the vacant third-generation boss position. Sensing something suspicious about both the assassination and Takewaki’s ambitions, Sakaki unleashes the "Chain" to uncover the truth in his stead…
