Three couples stay at a lakeside cottage with their children. They want them to prepare intensely for a prestigious high school entrance exam with the help of a private tutor. One night, one of the wives confesses to her husband that she has killed his mistress.

This is based on a collection of short stories by Keigo Higashino. A membership-based investigation agency dedicated to VIP will usually lead the case to a quick and calm resolution. Members are only VIPs in the political and business world. Tow people are in charge of it, a man in his mid-30s who has a deeply carved face away from the Japanese and a beautiful woman who seems to be in his late 20s. She works as an assistant to the man, and has extraordinary memory. Their group is nicknamed the Detective Club by the owners who are VIP members.

To combat rising crime and terrorist activities in Japan, the Japanese National Police Agency authorizes the formation of a secret motorcycle unit known as the Wild 7. The motley group consists of reformed convicts - ranging from simple thugs to former Yakuza members. The Wild 7 are tasked to take out criminals the police cannot touch - due to the criminal's connections with politicians and wily lawyers.

The special will be set several months after the events of the drama. "Onizuka" learns of the imminent closure of the "Smile Duck" orphanage ("White Swan" in the original manga) due to a certain city development plan and some conflicts of interest for the politicians involved. Of course, he cannot let that happen, and together with his students from class 2-4, he will do everything possible to protect the orphanage.

The two most famous Japanese mystery characters have come together to solve a crime. A year ago, a man was trying to commit suicide by jumping off a police station building. He was rescued by two men who happened to be the well known Akechi Kogoro and Kosuke Kindaichi. The famous duo were asked to be witnesses and provide information for the police record. From the surface, it was a simple case of suicide. However, soon after the incident, the police lieutenant committed suicide in his office. Slowly from the gathered evidence, the two most unlikely cases are being linked.

Six high school tennis clubmates, including railroad investigator Noriko Hanamura, are going on a day trip to Kawaguchi Lake. However, one of them, Ayako Hirayama, does not show up even after the arranged time for the meet-up has passed. Magazine writer Yumi Tachiki, who planned the trip, calls Ayako but gets no answer, so Noriko and the others, believing Ayako will catch up with them, proceed to their destination. Even though Yumi and Noriko call Ayako many times, she does not answer. Yumi receives an urgent work request after arriving at Tenjozan Park by ropeway, so Noriko and the others return to Tokyo leaving Yumi at the mountain. None of them had any contact with Ayako the entire day. That night, Noriko receives a call from the Yamanashi Prefectural Police informing her that Yumi's body has been found stabbed in Tenjozan Park. One of the ropeway employees happened to witness a mysterious woman wearing a hat and a mask following Yumi down the mountain trail that evening...

University professor Kenzo Oshima (Hisamatsu Nobumi) is stabbed to death by someone in an alleyway in Tokyo, and Inspector Totsukawa (Takahashi Hideki) and Detective Kamei (Takada Junji) of the Metropolitan Police Department's Investigation Department's Investigative Division 1 arrive on the scene. According to the first finder, the victim died after saying "Totsukawa...". Oshima was famous as the leading authority on mitochondria, but he had never met Totsukawa... Hospital Director Kenichiro Asashima and Chief Nurse Junko Amemiya goes missing. There are rumors that they were in a close relationship. Head of Drug Management, Yasuharu Horimura is found dead. Rumors were that he stalked Junko Amemiya. The investigation into his dead is carried out as a suicide case, but Detective Eiji Kirishima (Takanori Jinnai) suspects foul play. Ichiro Numata follows with his sharp eyes what transpires at the hospital and he also holds a secret.

Afterward, another villager mutilated, and his condition imitates the mummy they had. Hajime and the others try to find the true identity of the formless murderer, the fifth mummy.

Kyoko Muromachi (Reiko Takashima), Yayoi Ichijo (Yoshiko Miyazaki) and Misuzu Yasaka (Atsuko Takahata) work at a police station. Kyoko Muromachi works in the general affairs section, Yayoi Ichijo in public relations section and Misuzu Yasaka in the cafeteria as a cook. Even though they are not detectives, they obtain information about cases and gather at the police station cafeteria to analyze the information. They actually find tips that can solve cases.
