April Rhapsody

Freely adapted from Gabriel García Márquez's Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the film follows the investigation of a local teacher's murder in a small and desperately poor rural village, the story of the crime gradually pieced together from the fragmented memories of witnesses forced to testify at an inquest. Sharing with her Fifth Generation colleagues Chen Kaige and Tian Zhuangzhuang a remarkable eye for the barren landscapes of northern China and a fascination with small-town life — especially those enduring superstitions that Communism failed to erase — director Li Shaohong also introduces several formal innovations, particularly in storytelling structure, that remain unprecedented in Chinese cinema.

Three kids of Daizu minority is told by a granny that a red elephant which is the symbol of God lives in the forest so in a summer vacation they go into the forest to look for the elephant and finally they discover the secret of the elephant.

Warriors of Virtue: The Return to Tao (set a few years after the original film) sees a new villain, Dogon, seize control of Tao, a parallel universe forming the film's major setting. On Earth, 12–year–old Ryan and his friend Chucky arrive at a martial arts competition in Beijing, whereupon they are unexpectedly taken to Tao. There, it is shown that they are to become Warriors of Virtue.

5th Generation student film.

The story took place in Tianjin in the 1920s. The whereabouts of Zhou Pu Yuan, the master of the Zhou mansion, is unknown due to the involvement of the Jiangqiao incident. The housekeeper Lu Gui had no choice but to bring Zhou Ping, the young master of the Zhou family, from Wuxi to manage the property. Just when Zhou Ping was about to sell the Zhou mansion to pay off the debt, Zhou Pu Yuan came back and brought along a young wife, Fan Yi, who stepped forward to help Zhou Ping understand the debt problem, bringing the two young people together. However, the awkward mother-child relationship made them dare not face up to their true feelings, and the unstoppable pain tormented them more violently.
