Returning Series

The Phoenix Team was a Canadian drama series that aired on CBC Television in 1980. Starring Don Francks and Elizabeth Shepherd, the show featured eight one-hour adventure dramas centered on former spies drawn back into action by circumstance. Shepherd portrayed Valerie Koester, a British secret service agent who enlists the unofficial help of her ex-lover, David Brook, played by Francks. Once a top Canadian agent during the Cold War, Brook became disillusioned with high-tech espionage and was relegated to a desk job. Both Brook and Koester, known for their nonconformist attitudes, opposed the overly bureaucratic Graydon, played by Brian Linehan, and partnered with the sympathetic General, portrayed by Mavor Moore, head of the Canadian secret service.

Melvin Byrd, who dreams of being a scientist, is a Cape Kennedy "miniscule molecular particle surveillance monitor" - in short, a janitor. His job is to keep a major rocket project completely dust-free, and this he does with his own hilariously fantastic inventions - including a literal attack on dirt by a "knight on a white horse". In his work, he meets Judy, a chimp involved in a top-secret project, which leads Melvin into the one room strictly off-limits to him. Not until he has entered the project room does Melvin learn that any man entering it will be negatively ionized - making him fly like a bird.

Dead on Target is the third and final film in the Our Man Flint movie trilogy. The film originally aired on ABC on March 17, 1976. The TV movie was also a pilot for a possible weekly series, but it did not get good enough ratings to warrant such, and Dead On Target became the last Derek Flint movie.
