Dying Alive

Pierre Chamberland works as a journalist for a major daily newspaper and lives in the heart of the very popular Plateau Mont-Royal district. His brother François Chamberland, a young actor with limited talent, continues to dream of the day when we will eventually recognize his “tremendous” potential. Robert Gascon, François' best friend, is an eternal 30-year-old teenager with a nebulous past who lives on the hook of society. Finally, Anaïs Fontaine, Pierre's friend, talented freelance graphic designer, succeeds thanks to her strong personality to take her place among the three roommates. Even if Pierre and Anaïs are of the age of reason, they do not yet live together. Anaïs has her own apartment and Pierre shares his loft with François and Robert, when the latter are willing to leave him some space. The Plateau characters also have their meeting place, a small neighborhood pub where the charming Béatrice and the friendly Jean-Paul welcome our friends almost daily.

La petite vie was first a stage sketch of the comedy duo Ding et Dong, formed by Claude Meunier and Serge Thériault, and later a hit Quebec television sitcom aired by Radio-Canada from 1993 to 1999. In total, 59 episodes were created plus 3 specials, two for Christmas and one for New Year's 2000. It is to date the only Canadian TV show to ever gather more than 4 million viewers, a performance it achieved twice in 1995.

After an escalation of blunders, Toopy and Dorothy, a comical genie, accidentally make Binoo’s beloved stuffed animal, Patchy-Patch, disappear. The trio immediately set out to find the fabulous land of “The Lost and Found” where Patchy-Patch is surely to be found. Along the way, the group meets twin seagulls looking for their father, and a magnificent Princess who has lost her dance partner. A shy and insecure delivery driver arrives on the scene of a robbery-gone-wrong and picks up two bags of cash and hides them in his truck. He is interrogated by two tough police detectives and manages to evade suspicion but he is warned that whoever owns the money will be looking for it. Only the help of a prostitute and a former biker recently released from jail might get him out of trouble.

In this fun family comedy, a village rooster's punctual (and loud!) crowing keeps everyone awake until a group of sleepy locals hatch a scheme to get rid of him.
