The Theater Is My House

A young Jewish woman, having received an order from the occupation authorities to report to the assembly point, goes into town with her son. They approach the ghetto, but realizing what awaits them, they leave. They wander around the city, not daring to visit their friends. Night falls. Huddled together, mother and son fall asleep on a bench. And in the morning, soldiers indifferently throw their frozen bodies into the back of a truck.

Soldiers of the Russian-Mongolian Joint Special Detachment, who are carrying out a special mission, went to the front line of the war and assumed the responsibility of conducting a sharp emotional and ideological battle with words and sounds. Therefore, the contribution of these people in the battle of Khalkh River was huge. This film shows the Khalkh River War and its scope through the actions of the "Little Squad" and the thoughts of its heroes.

Two young directors adapted the short stories of two Russian authors whose works had been banned for decades, and so their film ended up in the censor’s vault as well – for twenty years. Both tales look back to the post-revolutionary era: 'Angel' (Olesha) speaks tragically of the brutality and destruction of the time, and 'The Homeland of Electricity' (Platonov) captures its haunting grotesquery.
