The Monsters of Babaloo

A 1972 Portuguese language drama/adventure film written and directed by Júlio Bressane, starring Rosa Dias and Elyseu Visconti.

23 years in the making, “Pereio, Eu Te Odeio!” is a documentary on legendary Brazilian actor Paulo Cesar Pereio, an irreverent and controversial artist and public figure, as told by the testimonies of friends, family, and society members who hate him.

Bressane’s first color film, shot in the home of the artist Elyseu Visconti. Part of it is missing sound and final editing because the director was forced to leave Brazil. There might be a few touches of Corman and English horror, but it is another level of horror. A millionaire lives in a sinister cottage where strange events unfold. A damned creature, he transforms himself in a werewolf and leads a following whose adepts spread horror and despair in the neighboring city, becoming themselves a clan of assassins. One day, the werewolf confronts Branca Justiça (White Justice), who summons benign forces to scathe them and frees him of his own wickedness.
