In a small provincial town, students meet at a party organized by one of them, and share their thoughts on the difficult year they are leaving : the preparation of high school diploma.

Vincent, a triumphant forty-something, is about to become a father for the first time. Invited to dinner at the home of Élisabeth and Pierre, his sister and brother-in-law, he reunites with Claude, a childhood friend. While awaiting the arrival of Anna, his eternally late wife, he is pressed with questions about his impending fatherhood, all in good humor... But when Vincent is asked if he has already chosen a name for his unborn child, his answer plunges the family into chaos.

Vincent, a wealthy real estate agent, is invited to dinner by his sister Elizabeth and her husband Peter, both professors in Paris. Claude, a childhood friend and trombonist in a symphony orchestra, is also present. Vincent brings news from the prenatal examination of his and his wife Anna's unborn son. The name chosen by the soon-to-be parents strongly offends the others for many reasons. The dispute between the guests quickly escalates and before long the resurgence of old grudges and hidden secrets is unavoidable...

Why do we often go to dinners we don't want to attend, to see friends who aren't really friends anymore? Out of habit? Out of kindness? Out of cowardice? Intoxicated by the idea of tidying up their schedules by sorting through their old friends, Pierre and Clotilde Lecoeur (played by ERIC ELMOSNINO and LYSIANE MEIS) decide to organize farewell dinners, the ultimate form of friendly divorce. However, by choosing - as their first victim - Antoine Royer (played by GUILLAUME DE TONQUÉDEC), their oldest friend, Pierre and Clotilde are unaware that they are getting caught up in a downward spiral.

Revisits the two rounds of the 2007 French presidential election (April 22 and May 6, 2007), where Conservative leader Nicolas Sarkozy won a clear victory over his Socialist opponent, Ségolène Royal. Faced with the activist, the journalist, the political figure and the gigantic media device set up for the occasion, the audience is taken on board without real or comprehensive explanations. Strangely, the chaos seems organized. Just like when we are considering the range of 'unplanned' events that get media exposure, so much so that we wonder if they really are being planned. Is all this period of unrest visibly set in motion by social activists, agitators, ordinary people, politicians, publicity agents?
