A documentary recording the lives of Khon students in their last years of study. They spent six years under the rules of the military regime after the 2014 coup d’etat. The coup granted the regime power to change many things, especially education which became more focused on the monarchy and royal glorification instead of basic human values. While the world is becoming awakened to human rights, the military regime deems them against their own values. Or in the whole of Southeast Asia, you could say. The fact that last year he received a Silpathorn Award, an official state prize for artists, was one of the few encouraging events in a country with a military regime and unpredictable censorship. The film is an ode to the male body. Two naked men on a white sofa. And a film maker who restrains himself.

In Thai Buddhist cosmology, a kalpa is an immeasurable span of time — here imagined as 1.334 billion years, long enough for bodies, memories, and worlds to dissolve. Beginning in hell and expanding toward the edge of the universe, The Measured Everlasting is 1.334 Billion Years moves through Buddhist scripture, Thai gay pornographic print culture, forensic footage, personal memory, AI simulations, and political fable. At its center is the filmmaker’s fear of death: not simply as an ending, but as the collapse of identity, desire, and memory before everything returns to chaos.
