Thomas Stangassinger may be the farmer on the farm, but his wife Stasi is the master of the house. However, major complications only arise when the two sons Sepp and Toni fall in love with the same girl. The farmer's wife, who is very happy with Vevi as her daughter-in-law, gives the girl a choice: either Sepp or Toni, so that there is peace in the house again. Vevi decides in favor of Sepp. The old farmer is furious and wants to prevent the wedding by any means necessary. As the daughter of the old sawyer Korbi, the girl brings no dowry into the house.

The rich and fun-loving brewery owner Xaver Bogenrieder has died. After the funeral, the mourners come to the pub for the funeral feast. The first trouble is already inevitable: It's all about the succession to the Unterbräu and which of the dignitaries will court the beautiful widow. The master brewer, who has long been a silent admirer of the widow, doesn't like this at all. Then the shepherd gives him an idea. The Unterbräu simply has to go around as a ghost, then the false admirers will stay away. Unfortunately, the gravedigger has the same idea, without the one knowing about the other.

Xaver Bogenrieder, landlord of the Unterbräu, is laid to rest. At the funeral feast, the pretty widow Wally is courted by the pharmacist, the post office secretary and the professor.
