King Frederick II and his leading advisors hesitate too long in the eyes of some officers, so Major von Schill decides to strike out on his own. He hoped that his brave move would be the catalyst for the great war of liberation. But von Schill's troops were soon defeated by a superior force of Dutch-Danish troops. The king takes a public stand against von Schill's actions and eleven of his officers are shot by summary execution on Napoleon's orders. However, one of them, Lieutenant Heinrich von Wedell, escapes death and is sentenced to forced labor for life. When Wedell's brother Karl, who opposed von Schill's unauthorized actions, learns of Heinrich's fate, he decides to help him in a risky way...

While on tour somewhere in Italy, a famous German pop singer loses his voice. All tickets for the concerts have long been sold out. Someone from the "Star's" entourage finds a young local guy who used to walk around the city singing in a very similar voice. From then on, the pop star stood on stage in front of the microphone, only opening his mouth, while the unknown street singer sang for him, standing in front of the microphone behind the scenes. At the end of the film, the star's voice returns, and he begins to sing solo and in a duet with the young singer.

Martin Hinterkirchner, dissatisfied with his position, sends the hits he has secretly composed to a manager. One of them would be ideal for the famous singer Linda Borg, but her manager refuses. Unfortunately, Martin now blames Linda and has nothing good to say about her - in contrast to his grandfather Leopold, who met Linda at a dog show. He gets a job as a salesman for household appliances, but his good nature gets in the way again.

In Monte Carlo, a captain tries to raise the money to pay his crew at the gaming table, and meets and falls in love with a Queen.

Pepe Nietnagel and his fellow students of the Mommsen school come up with all kinds of ideas to get out of doing any actual school work. This includes simulating suicides, setting off the air-raid sirens and abusing the school director's new broadcasting system. They succeed in sending their teacher to a sanatorium and get a replacement that turns out to not be so bad after all.

Dr. Oskar Sommer, a good-natured high school teacher, takes on a momentous task for the school janitor, also named Oskar Sommer: he is to play the role of the janitor's daughter's father for a few days. Since the real father has not been seen for 15 years and has pretended to be a teacher in his letters, the two Sommers promptly pick up the wrong person at the train station.

Pitt and Felix, two friends from school, meet again by chance in hospital years later. Both are looking forward to fatherhood. In order to shorten the grueling wait until the baby is born, they exchange lively memories of their school days. Some embarrassments are also brought up.
