The story of Mafalda is like the one of Cinderella, just the other way round. The dramatic real story of a Italian princess, born and raised in the comforts of a golden court, who will be forced by war to share the fate of ordinary people in a concentration camp. Mafalda di Savoia was chosen to represent the decline of nobility and the errors of war, which separate and destroy even noble families. Mafalda is a victim of political strategies that overlook her, and her tragic death shows the levelling power of war, that forces poor and rich alike to share the same destiny.

Maicol

Maicol's mother Anita (Sabina Regazzi) is distracted by too many concerns to pay him much mind, so Maicol (Simone Tessarolo) seeks fulfillment in his inner life, which is very busy and rich. The five year-old has made a world for himself populated by situations and people from the movie Dune, and anything he says to anyone is unlikely to refer to anything else. When his unmarried working mother takes him with her to the train station for her rendezvous with her lover, he occupies himself during their long wait by exploring everthing in sight. Unused to dealing with anything but his fantasy life, after he gets himself lost he is of no help to the police in their search for his mother.

Cristallo di rocca - Una storia di Natale

Old Sanna lives in the mountain village of Gschaid. At Christmas, she receives a long-awaited visit: Sanna's son with his wife and children. At the same time, mountaineers make a gruesome discovery. The body of a man is recovered from the ice of the Alpine glacier. It is Martin, who saved the lives of Sanna and her brother many years ago. Sanna's grandchildren are eager to hear the whole story. And so Sanna tells them about the two hostile villages of Gschaid and Millsdorf and a miraculous rescue from the ice and snow at Christmas.

Fried Crumbed Brains

After a big car accident, caused by his brother Valerio, Antonio is mentally-ill, fallen to a childlike regression. They live together in Trieste. Valerio is totally absorbed by his job and by looking after Antonio that call him Papà (Daddy). One day Valerio decide to have a trip on a house-boat with Marianna, his fiancée, and they bring Antonio with them. Antonio unexpectedly drives the boat far away till it gets stuck on a sandbank. Valerio leaves his brother and Marianna alone on the boat and goes searching for help. A storm obliges the two to spend a night together on an island. During that night Marianna discovers, step by step, the poetic and childish world of Antonio, starting to appreciate the different resources of mentally handicapped persons.

The Game Bag

In late summer 1991, three Italians reach a hunting reserve in Croatia with a station wagon. Long Live the Lady!

The Lady (or Signora) of the title is a mysterious matron who lives in a crumbling mansion. Six catering trainees are brought to the castle upon its conversion into a resort hotel. They are ordered to prepare a special meal for the old lady, whom none of them have ever seen for more than an instant. As the caterers grow in wisdom and sophistication, we learn that the lady may very well be an urbane ghost rather than a flesh-and-blood entity.
