The Grand Canyon is a breathtaking natural monument. It's one of the planet’s best-known landscapes, yet we often forget that it tells two billion years of the Earth's history. Geologists Karl Karlström and Laurie Crossey are the leading experts on this. Over the course of 8 days, they descend the Colorado river and tackle hundreds of rapids to unveil the mysteries held in the Grand Canyon, and the place that humans occupy within it.

Mousse and Louis are young, beautiful, rich and in love. But drugs have invaded their lives. One day, they overdose and Louis dies. Mousse survives, but soon learns she's pregnant. Feeling lost, Mousse runs away to a house far from Paris. Several months later, Louis' brother joins her in her refuge.

August in Paris' suburbs, seven friends are gathered to spend a week in the city where they grew up. The city is empty and the days pass by under a deep blue sky. Each of them has a reason to be there: some still live there, some come back to see their family, some are searching their childhood, some want to escape boredom or eventually searching for love. They are all bearing the fact that these moments they are sharing are maybe the last ones.

A hike between father and son. Joël wants to experience a special day with his 15-year-old son Ethan and show him the upcoming solar eclipse at the same place where he once experienced it with his mother. Since the divorce, they rarely see each other and Ethan is also happy to finally have the opportunity to tell his father about his plans for the future. But with every step they take towards the summit and the eclipse, the mood between them darkens. They find that their attempts to communicate amount to nothing, until their simmering argument finally culminates in a cathartic moment.

Henrik and his younger lover Lulu go on an intimate trip to France. Unexpectedly, Henrik's son, David, arrives.

A group of gay friends and lovers discuss love, sex, life and death as they exchange partners and try to dodge the bullet of AIDS in the drama Le traité du hasard. Patrick is a gay man whose circle of acquaintances provides the background for this story. They include Lou Rockfeller III, a flamboyant drag queen; Bruno (Bruno Anthony de Trigance), a former college professor who has since found success in the film industry; Daisy, a middle-aged author whose love life is a long litany of disasters; and Julien, a good-looking man who makes his living as a hustler. Julien was involved with Patrick at one time, and it turns out most of Patrick's friends have been with either him or Julien at one time or another -- which becomes a subject of grave concern when Julien develops a full-blown case of AIDS.

At the end of June in Paris: Mireille accompanies his friend Thomas, a solitary and restless being, during a walk to Père Lachaise. Thomas is very agitated, worried. He confides to Mireille that he wishes to be cremated in the event of death. In September: after a period of holidays, Mireille returns at her home. She and his friends do not any more manage to contact Thomas. After investigation, Mireille learns that Thomas died in August, only. As he has no family his body was interred in the square of the needy of the new cemetery of Thiais. Mireille wants to honor the last wills of his friend, but the law is strict: to dig up the body and cremate it, the services of the city hall have to have the signature of a member of Thomas's family. Mireille learns that Thomas had a younger brother, Melchior. But But the young man, marginalized, abandoned for years by his older brother, refuses to sign the licence to dig up.

Humanity is dying, consequence of an already distant catastrophe. A man gazes sadly at the setting sun and lets his memories go. Many of those he knew died. Among them is the one he called Kid.
