The Song of Grassroots

Fajar Merah (21 years old) is the son of Wiji Thukul – a poets and human rights activist who was ‘made to disappeared’ in 1998 by The Soeharto Regime. Together with ‘Merah Bercerita’, a band established at 2010, and supported by his family, he tries to bring back his father’s poems to life, covers them with music notations and creates a music album. In a dynamic background of 2014 Presidential Election, 16 years after the 1998 tragedy, Fajar and family develops a new hope on one candidate; Joko Widodo, to solve some Human Rights Violation cases, to find Wiji Thukul and other victims.

Worn Out

As a teenager, Warti carried too much burden: being a mother, the backbone of the family, as well as a victim in her own household. She tried to breastfeed her baby, but stress and malnutrition prevented her from producing milk. Meanwhile, her husband, Supri, is immersed in online gambling and violence. From behind a pile of false eyelashes that she strings together to survive, Warti searches for the strength to make a decision: stay in the toxic household, or leave for a better life for herself and her baby.

A Tale of the Light

A child (Lintang) wants to celebrate his birthday with family and friends, but his father has been critically ill in the hospital for a week. He then hears about a myth that fireflies can grant a wish. However, fireflies have not been seen in the area for a long time and are nearly extinct. Lintang and his friends then try to bring the fireflies back so that his father can come home soon.

Tale of Time

Fajar Suharno was a theater maestro from the 80's to the 90's. He was imprisoned because his theater activities were considered against the New Order government. At its peak, he made a show entitled "Geger Uwong Ngoyak Macan" about the events of crushing people who were considered thugs/criminals (Petrus). The show was held exactly the day before the massacre took place
