Worn Out

Fajar Merah (21 years old) is the son of Wiji Thukul – a poets and human rights activist who was ‘made to disappeared’ in 1998 by The Soeharto Regime. Together with ‘Merah Bercerita’, a band established at 2010, and supported by his family, he tries to bring back his father’s poems to life, covers them with music notations and creates a music album. In a dynamic background of 2014 Presidential Election, 16 years after the 1998 tragedy, Fajar and family develops a new hope on one candidate; Joko Widodo, to solve some Human Rights Violation cases, to find Wiji Thukul and other victims.

Inspired by a true story about two farming families in Bali and Gorontalo. Made (60) a seaweed farmer in Nusa Lembongan, Bali, he insisted on maintaining his seaweed farming business, amidst the rapid flow of change and the massive tourism sector that damaged the sustainability of the marine ecosystem. Meanwhile, far away in the Transmigration area, Tuwarno (55) a Corn Farmer in Saritani Village, Gorontalo must face drought due to long drought, he is aware of climate change and wants to re-implement an environmentally friendly agricultural system and believe in local wisdom.

Ubay (50 years), a Dangdut musician and owner of a traveling Dangdut cart group in Lenteng Agung of South Jakarta. Together with his wife and dangdut cart member, he wanted to be able to record their songs. A long-held desire and must be realized before their age is getting older. Didiet (53 years) is Ubay’s old friend who is willing to help them to realize their dreams, even though he has only a simple recording device and an old computer. The process of recording was not entirely as well as they expected, many obstacles they faced. But in the name of Dangdut they don’t give up. Their great passion for dangdut music is the main reason for facing it all.
