Gigue sur les rives

A travel film.

Camera movements on a pine (“Songshù” in Chinese) at dusk when the light is so soft. Film with nuanced hues and Chinese painting graphics.

A nod to Germaine Dulac. I filmed brass discs with camera movements. The discs deform and create new shapes; sometimes they glimpse each other, overlapping to create abstract forms. The sound is computer-generated.

The nature of form is to hide the object rather than define it, and the nature of light is to conceal substance rather than to delineate.

Super 8mm / color / silent / 1S / 3' 00

Camera movements on “tamaris”, a plant that grows by the sea on the Ile de Ré, painting and Indian ink.
