The August Virgin

What some filmmakers do when they are not making movies: they waste time; they eat and get drunk; they take a walk after watching a movie; they fall in love; they are alone or with friends, building future memories for a future movie.

Quién lo impide is a call to change our perception of adolescents and youths; our idea of those born in the early 21st century who have recently reached adulthood; those who now seem guilty of everything as they themselves see their hopes dashed. Somewhere between documentary, fiction and pure testimonial record, the young adolescents show themselves the way they really are, the way we rarely see them, or the way they let us see them: taking advantage of the film camera to show off the best of themselves and renew our trust in the future; from fragility and emotion, with humour, intelligence, beliefs and ideas. Because the young people who speak to us about love, friendship, politics or education refer not only to their own situation, but to the things that always matter to us, at any age. Quién lo impide is a film about ourselves: about what we were, what we are and what we will continue to be.

A film that revolves around the theme of love, but this time under the premise of a boy who tries to forget a girl, a story far more difficult to bear, especially when the girl he just separated from comes back again in each of the memories of his past and he feels that "all the love songs talk about me".

After 15 years together, Ale and Alex choose an unconventional way to part ways: by hosting a party to celebrate their separation. Their unexpected decision leaves friends and family confused, forcing everyone to confront their own views on love, relationships, and new beginnings in this bittersweet, heartfelt story.

In a peripheral neighbourhood, where the rural and urban worlds meet, the houses of the first migrants who arrived after the post-war period coexist with the new blocks of the dormitory city, where the latest wave of migration is concentrated. This humble corner is now an authentic global village. Good Valley Stories is a sum of constructs, of social, generational and identity, urban and ecological conflicts, but it is also a calm and humanistic look at today’s world.

David is a teenager who feels he doesn't belong to a life where his family, friends and the girl he loves seem not to understand him.

Tristan is about to turn fifteen. He enjoys the good life his parents have built for him. And yet, it won't be long before his environment of protection, affection and comfort crumbles. From then on, he will learn the taste of loneliness, sadness and that survival is often more important than life.

In the middle of summer, five women rehearse a play in an old mill, isolated from the world.

Manuela and Olmo meet in a future as they had promised fifteen years earlier as teenagers, when they lived their first love. Based on this romantic situation, La Reconquista is in fact a film on a quest for time; or about the awareness of time: of time lost and time recovered; about what we remember about ourselves and what we don't remember; about the words, gestures and feelings to which we remain faithful, because they define and compel us today, yesterday and tomorrow.

Santiago, a gray man who works as a supporting actor, changes his attitude towards life when, for a few days, he takes his young son Guillermo into his home.

Two couples in their thirties, heated discussions on the essentials of life unfolding between Madrid and the neighbouring countryside.

Vito, Luis and Francesco are three Spanish friends around thirty who travel by van to Paris for no apparent reason, just looking for a reunion with their respective ancient, idyllic and yet ephemeral love affairs, perhaps with the only mission of surprising themselves and continue to still feel alive.

Comedy set in 1977, in which a renowned playwright (Alberto San Juan) tries to shoot a social protest drama starring a doldrums folk, former child star (Natalie Poza) and produced by a producer and shameless liar (Miguel Rellán). Inexperience, ambition, lack of means and the love-hate relationship with the star director shooting become a craze.

Trueba, while waiting to shoot Todas las canciones hablan de mi (2010), films his day-to-day life with a three-pixel camera that he presents in a twelve-channel multi-projection.
