The film was launched by C. V. Sridhar in 1980 as a Cinemascope venture and was then titled as Sakthi. Sridhar collaborated with Kamal Haasan after the success of the 1978 film Ilamai Oonjal Aadukirathu, which had also featured Rajinikanth. The film was meant to be the first film which featured Kamal Haasan and Ambika as a lead pair and stills were released featuring Ambika in a swimsuit. The film got delayed and was put on the back burner, before it re-emerged in 1986 under the title of Meendum Suryodayam and shooting progressed. It was planned for an April 1986 release, which got postponed to May 1 of 1986. There was a local authority election in March 1986 and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won seats. Raja is a petty thief living around the streets of Bombay, indulging in pickpocketing. In the same city lives Rani who makes a living through dancing. The two meet and fall in love. Raghu, the owner of a cycle company, lives luxuriously with his wife Sarala and children in Madras. Madhu, his manager, has been misappropriating the company funds with the help of his lover Manorama who Raghu is later attracted to. The company is soon closed due to losses, putting Sarala and her children in poverty.

The film is based on two couples – where the first couple Dr. Chandra Shekar (Gemini Ganesan) & Parvathi (Anjali Devi) and the second couple is Ravi (A. Nageswara Rao) & Lakshmi (Savitri). Ravi & Lakshmi are happy lovers. Ravi is summoned and asked to marry another girl forcibly. Since his father's life & honor are at stake, Ravi agrees to the marriage. Simultaneously another marriage takes place in the same village Dr. Chandra Shekar visits his best friend's sister marriage but the marriage cancels in the last moment due to dowry problems to keep up his friend's prestige Shekar marriage's his sister called Parvathi. Due to sudden marriage, the couple doesn't see each other. Thereby because marriage is happening without his wish Ravi also not seen the bride's face. Both the bridal parties traveling on the same train which run into a disastrous accident. In the accident Ravi's parents and wife are dead.

Devi and Anita are best friends who once even help nab a killer. Anita loves Anand but he marries Devi. Their lives are disrupted when the killer breaks loose and seeks revenge from both the women.

In the middle of the 80s, in Madras. While her car, (one Volkswagen Beetle, typify like Walt Disney's "Herbie") breaks down (frequently), Mâlu (Jayashree), a beautiful young graduate, very independent, stemming from the Tamil bourgeoisie, attends, dumbfounded enough, not far from it, in the terrible correction that Raghunath (alias Raghu) (Mogan) to a pickpocket administers. Dil-E-Nadaan (The Innocent Heart) is an Indian Hindi film directed by C.V. Sridhar, released in 1982. The film stars Rajesh Khanna in the main lead role as Anand and Shatrughan Sinha as his friend, as the second lead character of the film.[1] This film was remake of the 1978 Tamil film Ilamai Oonjal Aadukirathu, directed by C.V. Sridhar, where Kamal Hassan and Rajnikanth played the lead male roles. After the success of the Tamil version, C.V. Sridhar decided to remake it in Hindi and directed it himself.

Vayasu Pilichindi (lit. Youth is Calling) is a 1978 Telugu-language film directed by C. V. Sridhar. It is a remake of his own Tamil film Ilamai Oonjal Aadukirathu (1978). Sridhar remade the film in Hindi as Dil-e-Nadaan (1982), starring Rajesh Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Smita Patil, and Jayapradha

Punar Janmam (Rebirth) is a 1961 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by R. S. Mani. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Padmini, Ragini and P. Kannamba in lead roles. The film, produced by N. S. Diraviyam under Vijaya Films banner, had musical score by T. Chalapathi Rao and was released on 21 April 1961.
