1938 German adaptation of the Snow-White and Rose-Red fable.

Escaping her school teacher life, a lady marries a British military doctor who takes her to Malaysia. But realizing there that the marriage isn't working, she turns to an Oriental prince instead.

Gare uses the knowledge that his wife Amelia was imprisoned and had an illegitimate son to make her his subject. When her son Marc Jordan appears and falls in love with her daughter Judith, Amelia is forced to tell the truth. Gare then tyrannizes Judith. She tries to escape, but a fatal accident occurs first.

Crown Prince Don Carlos reunites with reformer Marquis Posa, who urges him to govern Flanders and broker peace. Carlos confesses forbidden love for his stepmother, Queen Elisabeth, who bids him serve Spain instead. Intrigue by the jealous Princess Eboli and Duke of Alba convinces King Philip II of betrayal. Posa sacrifices himself to save Carlos, but the king ultimately imprisons his son and hands him over to the Inquisition.

Old Dag and his two sons Tore and Dag Junior live on Björndal in the Nordic forests. The clan is constantly at odds with the noble landowner Lord von Gall, who lives on his sprawling estate with his daughter Elisabeth. During a dance, Tore snatches the distinguished young lady and sweeps her across the dance floor. Enraged by this audacity, she sets her admirer, Lieutenant Margas, on the temperamental young farmer. Tore loses his life in the fight, and catastrophe ensues.

The fairy Lacrimosa's daughter lives with a forest farmer. If she marries a poor man, her mother will regain her magical powers. «Envy» wants to prevent this and turns the forest farmer into a hard-hearted millionaire.

On the afternoon of Christmas Eve, Sister Angelika bids her boss, Professor Reimers, farewell, for she has quit her post. Reimers doesn’t understand the reason for this and since she won’t say a word as to why she’s quit, he asks her to spend the evening with him and his son Konrad. Konrad, however, wanted to take advantage of the holiday to bring his divorced parents back together and sends Angelika packing as soon as she reaches the house. Disappointed and sad, she drives to the airport to meet Captain van Santen, who also invited her to spend the holiday.
