The film was released on the occasion of King Frederik IX's 50th birthday, March 11, 1949. It follows the most important events from both King Frederik and Queen Ingrid's childhood and up to the present. There are footage from the wedding in Stockholm, the couple's trip to the United States, the royal house during the occupation, state visits, the king's daily work, but also family life and private interests.

The young and beautiful Laura Heiberg is to marry Torsten Vinge. When the priest asks if she will marry him, she says no. She flees from the church and gets a lift from Jonas Møller. He is heading north along the coast. At the 42 km marker in the forest, she asks to be dropped off. She follows a telephone wire to see where it ends. She finds a beautiful house in the forest. It looks uninhabited, but the door is open, so she goes inside. No one responds to her calls. She sends a telegram to an old flame, Herbert Thorsen, asking him to fetch some clothes from home and bring them to her. At the same time, she tells him that she did not get married after all. She finds a book called "What Do You Know About Yourself" written by Allan Krogh. She takes it out onto the terrace to read.

A woman wants to teach her unfaithful husband a lesson for his constant stepping out. However, she might fall into her own trap when she falls in love with an attractive pianist.

Three siblings see each other again after many years at their father's deathbed. The eldest, Arthur, a lawyer, has everything under control – or so it seems, as the middle child, Irene, is struggling with her abusive husband, while little brother Michael is the outsider, living a sleepless life of booze and prostitutes. When their father is close to death, the three are called together, and a major family drama unfolds in their father's living room. Gradually, they agree that they should stand together instead of arguing about old affairs. But when their sick father suddenly falls down the stairs, it is as if all good intentions fall to the floor again.

1914. The monarchs of Sweden, Denmark and Norway meet to demonstrate unity. In the crowd is a beautiful noble woman from Finland. She is eagerly courted by the monarch's aides.

Frederik makes various scams. As money is once again tight, Frederik and his wife Betty decide that they must go in new directions. Frederik dies and Betty cancels the life insurance. At first, things go very well for Betty. At the same time, Frederik is very jealous, which is why he decides to check Betty's relationship with men. Frederik appears as Frederik's brother, Carl. Carl and Betty have a few pleasant days together. Betty suspects that Carl is actually Frederik, but how could she know for sure. At the same time, the web begins to tighten around Carl/Frederik.

During the filming of a movie in Køge, Lise accidentally knocks down the director, Dan Burling. When the film crew leaves Køge, Dan invites Lise to come to the city. When Lise shows up in Copenhagen, she thinks she has been offered a role in a movie, while Dan was hoping to find a new housekeeper. Lise becomes Dan's housekeeper, and soon her love for him grows. He, on the other hand, only has eyes for himself. While completing his film dream, Dan saves script girl Irma from burning to death in the editing room. Meanwhile, Lise has decided to leave Copenhagen.

The young folk singer Peter Jespersen has returned from abroad and is now without a contract. He approaches director Andresen of the Alhambra Theatre, but is rejected, and Peter understands from the conversation that it will be important for him to get an impresario who can take care of the business for him. He approaches the theatre agents Bang and Mathisen, whose motto is: "If you have the talent, we will get you the contract".

Author and art critic Martin Berg and his charming wife, Karin, live a happy family life surrounded by their children and in-laws. Ever since he got married, Berg has wanted to write a book about the female figures in Botticelli's art, but the practical demands of everyday life have gotten in the way. There is a constant coming and going of young people in the house. It is the young people who keep him fresh of mind, and he is always ready to help young people, but the question is whether Berg sometimes goes too far in his efforts to help?

The Danish Ingen tid til Kaertegn (Be Dear to Me) is heavily reliant on the appeal of its star, 8-year-old Eva Cohn. Our heroine is the neglected child of a businessman father and actress mother. Feeling that happiness lies well outside her own backyard, Eva goes on a search for that happiness. The longer she stays away, the more her parents realize that they've unfairly ignored her. The plot is nothing new: it's what is done with it that pleases the eye and ear. Ingen tid til Kaertegn was one of the more popular entries in the 1957 Berlin Film Festival.

The young mechanic Borge Rasmussen works in Salling Harbour and lives with the slightly older Marinus Frederiksen, who chairs the city's port workers. Marinus sees in Borge, who has lost his parents, his only friend and is easily influenced by his extremist views.

Sabotage of a Nazi factory is carried out by the husband of the lover of a resistance leader.

Jens and Trille Woller have only been married for six months, and so far they live happily together in their cozy artist's dormitory, where Jens works with a brush and palette in front of his easel, while Trille sits behind her typewriter and writes short stories for the weekly magazines. The attic of a city house is the home to a colony of artists. Among them is a writer, whose corpus is larger than her output. We also meet a hard-of-hearing poet who can still hear the grass growing. There's a painter, a sculptor and more. All are penniless - hoping that one day they will experience their breakthrough. "The Seventh Heaven", as the corridor is called, also houses two prominent residents, Fyrtårnet and Bivognen. They have set up a small diner and engage lively with the artist from the colony.
