Rock Legends (The Best Of 50's 60's 70's From The Ed Sullivan's Show) VOL. 2

A collection of short films, interviews and concert footage of the '60s rock band The Doors. Includes three basic video segments: Dance on Fire, Live at the Hollywood Bowl and The Soft Parade. Each of the videos is directed by Ray Manzarek. The "extras" include Ray's two UCLA student films.

A combination of concert footage, television appearances, record company promo clips and new video footage shows the Doors, a top '60s rock band. This film would later become part of The Doors 30th Anniversary Collection (released in 1999 and 2001) which compiles three films previously released by MCA/Universal Home Video: Dance on Fire (1985), Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1987) and The Soft Parade: A Retrospective (1991).

This historical music video features as its centrepiece The Doors' last televised appearance, aired on PBS in 1969.

Filmed during their 1968 European tour, The Doors are captured in performances in London, Stockholm, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam. Paul Kantner and Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane, who shared the bill with The Doors on this tour, narrate this compilation.

A concert video that captures legendary rock 'n' roll band The Doors at the height of the group's powers. Filmed live at the Hollywood Bowl in the summer of 1968, Jim Morrison and the band perform an extended version of "Light My Fire," plus ten of their other most loved songs, taking a standing room only audience on an aural journey of mystical worlds and psychedelic experiences.

The creative chemistry of four brilliant artists —drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Kreiger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek and singer Jim Morrison— made The Doors one of America's most iconic and influential rock bands. Using footage shot between their formation in 1965 and Morrison's death in 1971, it follows the band from the corridors of UCLA's film school, where Manzarek and Morrison met, to the stages of sold-out arenas.

A cinematic look at The Doors on the road during their summer '68 tour. Concert performances are intercut with fly-on-the-wall footage of the group in their natural habitat.

Three different TV appearances ('67-'70) including old interviews, performances and the commentaries about specific songs by band members.

Arms dealers from several companies vie to sell the most expensive and highest tech weapons to a South American dictator. There are complications; understanding the exact nature of how 'gifts' are used to grease the wheels of a sale, a religious conversion from one of the salesman and a romance that begins to grow between two competitors.

Black and White UCLA Student Film, Preserved by the UCLA Film and Television Archive. Honored on the Library of Congress National Film Registry in 2021 as a culturally significant film. Directed by Ray Manzarek, keyboardist in The Doors. Starring Dorothy Fujikawa (Manzrek's future wife of forty years) and Henry Crismonde. Impressionistic vignettes of a jazz musician and a young art student's relationship, as he avoids commitment. Features Whiskey A Go Go on the Sunset Strip and a brief appearance by Jim Morrison of The Doors.

Three men are dangerously obsessed with the same woman.

Both The Doors and Led Zeppelin were influential bands in their own right, and their impact on music history is significant. The Doors, with their poetic lyrics and unique sound, are often credited with helping to define the psychedelic rock genre. Led Zeppelin, on the other hand, is known for their powerful, blues-influenced hard rock and heavy metal music. Both bands have left a lasting legacy and have a large and dedicated fan base. Ultimately, determining which band was "better" is subjective and depends on individual musical preferences. Some may prefer the introspective and poetic style of The Doors, while others may favor the raw energy and virtuoso musicianship of Led Zeppelin.

The Blu-ray disc that accompanies the expanded version of THE SINGLES features a high-resolution Quadraphonic mix of The Best Of The Doors. This 11-song compilation, available on Blu-ray for the first time, was remixed specifically for Quad in 1973 and offers a unique sonic experience on songs like “Soul Kitchen,” “Moonlight Drive” and “Love Me Two Times.”
