A sympathetic bandit chief supports the cause of freedom in Naples against the Bourbon King Ferdinand.

The monotonous life of a bourgeois family is disturbed by the announcement of the imminent return from America of Mr. Lohengrin, who had left Italy years earlier, leaving behind the reputation of being an irresistible womanizer. Lohengrin's cousin, worried about the stability of his marriage, convinces some relatives who live in the countryside to welcome the dreaded guest into their home and then, to avoid meeting him, leaves. Meanwhile, in the country house everyone eagerly awaits Lohengrin, and envy and spite are unleashed during the wait. In particular, while the young landlady prepares the house, the woman's husband begins to be tormented by jealousy. But the arrival of the long-awaited guest will be a huge disappointment for everyone: the once seductive man is now just an aged, with glasses and a prominent belly.

March 1945: an air raid destroys a fishing village. The homeless are hosted by Brother Angelo in the convent of San Fruttuoso in Camogli: years pass but the houses are not rebuilt and when the prior dies, the convent is sold to the rich engineer Milone, determined to transform it into a holiday complex. When he calls the young psychiatrist Dr. Spinelski for help, Lisa acts, as if she believes he is her husband; and as part of the therapy, Spinelski makes sure that Lisa gets everything she wants. Finally, Lisa comes to the conclusion that she'd rather have her real husband and so pretends to fall for him, whereupon they start a new life together. I'll remember to try that the next time I'm not allowed to buy some beer.

A killer is on the loose, murdering people with an iron claw.

After the death of his wife and mother of his 17-year-old daughter Gisela, Consul Brückmann is now in his second marriage to the beautiful Peruvian Tessa. She is only ten years older than Gisela, and the two have a very friendly relationship. At a ball, Gisela dances with the charming Fernando Alvarez, but she shows no interest in his advances. Tessa, however, recognizes her childhood sweetheart in him. The consul invites Fernando to his table, but neither of them let on. When Alvarez later comes to her house on business, Brückmann is absent and Tessa gives in to his advances. They plan to return home together. Tessa then learns that the train she thought her husband was on has derailed. Now she knows that she still loves him. When he stands in front of her, she tells him everything. Deeply hurt, he wants to let her go. Only Gisela manages to bring them back together.
