Four inseparable friends — Sergei, Nina, Oska and Zhenya — spent all their school childhood on the Clean Ponds, in Moscow. But the school is over, and in their beloved gazebo they dream of the future, swear fidelity to each other and do not yet know that tomorrow war will break out and they will become participants in terrible events.

Fitil is a popular Soviet/Russian television satirical/comedy short film series which ran for about 500 episodes. Some of the episodes were aimed at children, and were called Фитилёк, Fitilyok, Little Fuse. Each issue contained from the few short segments: documentary, fictional and animated ones. Directed by various artists, including Leonid Gaidai who presented his famous trio of Nikulin, Vitsin and Morgunov into the cast. It was called in USSR as "the anecdotes from the Soviet government".

A story about a love between a Soviet Army officer and an actress set during the WWII.

Having his life come to a dead end, Vladimir is thinking about suicide. He is saved by a girl and spends the night at her home. The next morning, Vladimir wants to leave, but finds himself trapped by the house: the staircase seems to have no end, again and again it brings him to the same floor.

The movie consists of two novellas. "The Affair". Russian sailor Nikolai and former bullfighter Spaniard Jose-Maria are hired on a ship, doomed in advance: the owner of the ship intends to sink it during the voyage to get a large insurance.
