Love Under the Date-Tree

This classic Greek comedy revolves around the constant fights between Zikos who works as a clerk at a small grocer's shop and the shop's owner. Zikos just can't keep his mouth shut every time his boss behaves as being an aristocrat. Things go even worse when Zikos finds out that his boss, by taking advantage of his wealth and with the help of the local match-maker, is planning to marry a young poor girl living in the same neighborhood.

Athens, 1964. A police reporter, Nikos Avgeris, has the journalistic mission to cover a suspected car crash that killed a senior state official. When the painter Nasos Karnezis is found dead and the police arrests Floras, the stockbroker Dimitris, his son from his first marriage, decides to find out who the real murderer is. Along with a tow of his friends, reporter Makris and the politician Delios research the case and they suspect Myrto, daughter of captain Kapsis who was executed by the Germans during the years of Occupation, after Karnezis had turned him in. Dimitris and Myrto, whose innocent has become clear in the meantime, fall in love with each other.

In this highly stylized and enigmatic story, Olga uses her cello case as a weapons cache. When she isn’t using her sharpshooting skills to knock off eminent Arab visitors to Athens, she vamps around lightly clad on the terrace of her penthouse, entertaining one man after another.
