Polizeiruf 110 is a long-running German language detective television series. The first episode was broadcast 27 June 1971 in the German Democratic Republic, and after the dissolution of Fernsehen der DDR the series was picked up by ARD. It was originally created as a counterpart to the West German series Tatort, and quickly became a public favorite.

Tatort is a long-running German/Austrian/Swiss crime television series set in various parts of these countries. The show is broadcast on the channels of ARD in Germany, ORF in Austria and SF1 in Switzerland.

Sophie, daughter of the designated LKA president Herbert Wichert, disappears without a trace from an elite boarding school. LKA investigator Isabell Moosbach goes undercover as a sports teacher. Then a pupil is found shot dead. During her investigations, Isabell Moosbach, who is infiltrated by the LKA under the pseudonym Karla Parker, discovers former GDR connections that go back to the police murders at Runway West in 1987.

After his mother's death, 17-year-old Sven moves in with his dad Achim, a taxi driver, who had divorced his mother several years earlier. It is not easy for Achim to get used to an adolescent around the house, especially since Sven hardly speaks to him. But Sven does well in school, and Achim hopes that time will bring them closer together. It is Achim's girlfriend Julia who first senses that something is wrong with Sven. Why, she wonders, does he always hang around with young boys? Why does not he have any friends his own age? She suspects that he is gay. The truth, however, is somewhat more nuanced - and chilling: Sven has pedophile tendencies. Proof is soon found on videos that shock and sicken Achim. Sven himself is shattered and regrets his actions. Julia suggests therapy, but Achim is convinced that he and Sven can handle this together. But he is wrong. Though Sven practically begs his father to lock him up in his room, Achim has confidence in his son.

Anja, a student, and Leonhard, a judge, meet at Marlene, his ex-wife, and Paul's house, marry shortly afterwards and have a son, Daniel. However, Anja's desire for love is not fulfilled in their relationship. When she is not careful, Daniel scalds himself and is admitted to hospital. Subsequently, Anja drinks more alcohol and begins an affair with Paul. When Marlene and Leonhard find out, Leonhard files for divorce. After an alcohol poisoning, Anja goes to rehab. During an outing with the therapy group, Anja throws herself out of a window and dies.

Emma Mayer is a psychologist and advises people in crisis situations. She works at a radio station in Mannheim and does her best to provide callers with help and support. When a hostage-taker calls her during a broadcast, her expertise and improvisation are called for, as the caller forces her to move out of the studio and confront him directly. When she arrives at the petrol station, Emma gets involved in a question-and-answer game: For every correct answer, a hostage is allowed to leave; for every wrong answer, a hostage loses their life.

On her wedding day, Lisa discovers that her husband Felix is making her crossly unhappy - and vice versa. She moves out head over heels. While Felix quickly descends into homelessness, Lisa ends up in a shared flat with two men: Chris and Edgar. They are only friends with each other, so Lisa doesn't mind the visits from the ladies in the least. But then Lisa does have a thing with Chris - and is suddenly seduced by Edgar. Just as they are about to settle down with this ménage-à-trois, Felix is turned in to them by the police.

Far away from his home, the smouldering conflict with his grown-up son Daniel, the years of tormenting worry about his cancer-stricken wife Maren and his impending 50th birthday, he meets the Vietnamese woman Huong. She is gorgeous. She is young. She is life. When Thomas learns that the meeting with the young woman was arranged and paid for by his Vietnamese partners, he is disappointed. But Huong is magically attracted to him; a tender love develops between the two. Thomas tells her nothing about his family. Convinced that he will marry her, Huong follows him to Germany without his knowledge.

Emma Mayer works as a presenter for a radio station. In her show 'Emma after midnight', she listens to the concerns of callers. She discovers that Katharina Holl, who is about to go on trial for involuntary manslaughter during the construction of an indoor swimming pool, is suicidal. Since the accident, she has been called Mrs. Hell by the press and while she, as the main defendant, has to shoulder all the blame, accomplices such as Lord Mayor Klaus Quade and the owner of the construction company, Mark Wahrendorf, remain on the outside. Emma has little time to deal with Katharina's problem and convince her that there is a point in continuing to live.
