Daisy, the daughter of Hellmann, a millionaire toy inventor, is a reporter for Damenwelt, a women’s magazine. In a series of reports, she sets out to prove what men are really like. Above all, Daisy’s aunt is thrilled by her niece’s journalistic zeal, while her father reacts with less enthusiasm, especially since Daisy’s methods keep drawing warnings from the police for causing a public nuisance.

Based on Graham Greene's novel Stamboul Train, the movie focuses on the lives of individuals aboard the Orient Express as it makes a three-day journey from Ostend to Constantinople.

The action is relocated to occupied Athens after the Peloponnesian War (404 BC), where Mr. S. (= Socrates, played by Paul Hörbiger) proposes double marriage for men to the Athenian parliament and the four occupying powers for hidden personal reasons. Outwardly, he is concerned with providing for the many war widows. His deeper intention is to free the beautiful slave Euritrite as a concubine alongside the quarrelsome Xanthippe. The four occupying powers of the Macedonians (= US Americans), Persians (= Russians), Cretans (= English) and Corinthians (= French) are gently teased. On Socrates' advice, the law is adopted with an anonymous dissenting vote so that everyone at home can claim that it was him. Socrates can marry Euritrite. Xanthippe, however, favors the mutual infatuation of Euritrite and Socrates' student Plato (who had already invented Platonic love out of sheer desperation), and the other women also know how to spoil their husbands' pleasure in the new law.

Peter Korff isn't a famous actor yet, but he is young, handsome, adventurous – and once again hopelessly in love. The object of his affection is named Erika and works as a model at the fashion salon "Yvette." Although the pretty young woman claims to be just as in love with Peter as he is with her, she's always up for a little fling behind his back.

Determined Gerda Weber travels to the big city and locates at a girl's pension. She soon finds job as a secretary in a big business thanks to her optimism and wits, and ends dating her boss after mistaking him for a companion. They share an evening of music and dancing, after which she discovers who he really is.

A film about men's friendship and the complications of love: Karl and Peter are close buddies since they were pilots in defense of German cities during ww-ii. Now they are working together in a bomb disarm unit. During a vacation they visit Karl's mother and fiancée Helge in the heath-land. When Helge meets Peter, it's love on first sight. But Karl, who's considering quitting his job and buying a local gas station, fails to notice it. Torn between his feelings for Helge and his friendship to Karl, Peter accepts a dangerous job.

William MacPhab loses seven-pounds in the stock market and decides to slap the man who was responsible for the stock manipulation that caused him to lose his money. Astor Terbanks, the stock-market manipulator is surprised the next day when he gets soundly slapped by MacPhab, and the latter promises to deliver one more a day for the next six days. Terbank's daughter, Daisy, is amused by the procedure and is attracted to MacPhab.
