Silvesternacht am Alexanderplatz

1900: Much to the chagrin of Baron Uhlendorff in Schoneberg, the city of Berlin is expanding. But what is much worse is that his son George is in love with Traute, the daughter of the master carpenter Schradecke. So the son must leave for South America as a diplomat and Father Schradecke has to intercept his letters to his daughter. Traute is inconsolable; 1913: The early days of the small artisans have now given way to them becoming big businessmen. Traute continues to wait for George in spite of the stubborn proposing by the carpenter Paul Buttner.

Riccardo and his troupe travel around the world performing musical and dance numbers in vaudevillian and circus theaters. Dancer Kitty is so impressed when she hears him sing that she asks to enter the company, but is turned down by Riccardo. Then in the middle of a number at the Winter Garten she pops in and the audience loves it. Now she will try to win Riccardo's heart, although he has a secret from his past that might be an obstacle.

Görk, the hardworking son of a heathland farmer, meets Nelly, the daughter of a traveling merchant, by chance and falls in love at first sight. However, his carefree brother Lutz, who has just returned from military service, soon sets his sights on her as well—and Nelly doesn't seem entirely averse to him. Finally, hoping to win her completely, Görk goes to their father and asks for her hand in marriage. He receives his father's blessing, but soon discovers that Lutz, despite his plea to leave Nelly alone, continues to try to seduce her.

The bored heir to a soap factory is able through pure chance to work incognito in the 153rd branch of the business. While doing so, he falls in love with a beautiful customer, gets into a rivalry with a jealous worker and helps to expose a dishonest boss.
