The film is based on the life of Bengali, Hindu monk Narendra Nath Datta aka Vivekananda from his birth (1863) to his returned to India from the west (1887). It is spiritual take on Vivekananda life. Movie's focus is on Vivekananda's internal struggles and questions about the meaning and truth of life.

Sodari is a 1955 Indian Kannada-language film directed by T. V. Singh Thakur. The film stars Pandari Bai, Narasimha Raju and Rajkumar. The music for the film was composed by Padmanabha Shasthri. The story of the film is based on the life of Hemavati, the pious wife of King Kailasanatha. She faces numerous hardships along with her children when Kailasanatha loses his kingdom due to a drought. The actress Jayashree plays a negative role of Chanchaladevi, a cunning relative of Hemavati. The movie is based on GV Iyer's stage play Anna Thangi which was based on the popular legend of Nalla Thangaal whose story had earlier been adapted in Malayalam in 1950 as Nalla Thanka and later in Tamil as Nalla Thangal (1955).

The film encompasses the story of Daksha yajna. It depicts how the daksha yajna was desecrated following the jumping into the fire by Lord Shiva's wife Dakshayani. Following this, Lord Shiva marries Goddess Parvati. Later, the Devatas Shiva, Ganga, Gowri all take birth as avatars on earth in the city of Kashi. Eventually, Shiva, Gowri and Ganga all get married in their earthly avatars.

While his brother chooses a secure job for the power and comforts it offers, Lakshmana is not after fame and money. He wants to master the art of music. The film captures the trials and tribulations Lakshmana undergoes before he succeeds in winning the hearts of music connoisseurs.

The film depicts the life of Kanteerava, who is known for his immense physical strength through wrestling. The film was credited to be one of the most authentic historical films made, since it was entirely based on the documents found in the Mysore Palace. The film also stars Udaykumar, Leelavathi, K. S. Ashwath and Sandhya in prominent roles.

The film was remade in Malayalam in 1965 as Kavyamela and the producer of Kantheredu Nodu, Velan, subsequently remade it in Tamil in 1968 as Devi, starring R. Muthuraman and Devika.

Pazhani is a 1965 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed and Screenplay by A. Bhimsingh and produced by A. P. Chinnappan. The film dialogue were written by M. S. Solaimani and story written by G. V. Iyer respectively. . The film features Sivaji Ganesan played titular role with other prominent actors S. S. Rajendran, R. Muthuraman, T. S. Balaiah and M. R. Radha in lead with Devika, Nagesh, Pushpalatha and C. Lakshmi Rajyam played pivotal role. The film had musical score by Viswanathan–Ramamoorthy and was released on 14 January 1965.
