Björk: Minuscule

Official DVD released by Björk about the making of the Medúlla album. The DVD features clips of the studio performances by Dokaka, Shlomo, Rahzel and Mike Patton that formed the beats for many of the songs on the album. The title of the DVD is the actual definition of the word "Medúlla".

Two twins separated at birth grow up to be artists in an eccentric Icelandic film, that just like a science fiction film asks the question: 'What if ...?'

This film explores the option of home birth in Iceland, as seen through the lens of a female filmmaker who is forced to come to terms with her feminine side when she discovers she is pregnant.

Emerging artists working in their hometown Reykjavík and abroad share with the viewers the diverse processes that spark a work of art. Threading a line between realism and performance, the film explores inspiration and creativity through an intimate two-year collaboration, providing an insight into a booming scene. Pouring Coke into empty Fanta bottles, Ásmundur asks himself "What is art?" suggesting that it is embedded in what an artist does. Accordingly, rather that focusing on the end product, the film deals with what the artist is up to before it comes to that.

The repetition and the circumstances increasingly take their toll when isolation, claustrophobia and paranoia set in. As if We Existed is an interpretation of an art piece by Ragnar Kjartansson who represented Iceland at the 53rd Venice Biennale in 2009. His piece, The End, was a six month long performance.
