Inspired by films including "Rattle and Hum" and "Endless Summer," Fading West follows Grammy-winning alternative-rock band Switchfoot as they travel the globe in search of new musical inspiration and perfect waves. Filmed during Switchfoot's 2012 World Tour, Fading West charts the creation of the fivesome's upcoming album in its earliest and most unpredictable stages. As the band visits legendary surf breaks in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and Bali, brothers Jon and Tim Foreman breathe fresh life into their songs by harnessing the spirit of their surroundings and mining new emotional depths. Part rock documentary, surf film, and travelogue, Fading West offers rare glimpses of the longtime surfers on their boards, captures the frenetic energy of their live shows, and portrays a journey both epic and intimate.

This is a story of passion and obsession. Its the story of the relationships of six New Jersey surfers who got on a surfboard 50 years ago and haven't stopped to this day. Pioneering the surf break at the Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, NJ in the 60's, surfing freezing waters before wetsuits existed, they found themselves inside the grip of a passion, an obsession so deep, only those who ride waves would understand. Surfing the Pier was a privilege earned, a territory protected, and friendships were complicated by fierce competition. The Pier, an icon for decades was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. This is the life story of these men, deeply connected to nature, water and weather, and the lessons learned from the ocean.

This is an inspirational story about a father and son's relationship and mutual love for basketball. As the son's game elevates, so do the pressures and demands from his father and even himself. Eventually they are both faced with what is truly important.
