Nightmare 2 – Painajainen jatkuu (Nightmare 2 - nightmare continues) is a sequel to the horror film Nightmare – painajainen merellä (Nightmare - nightmare at the sea), continuing the horror spin-off series of a popular Finnish daytime soap opera Salatut Elämät (Secret Lives).

Taisto Peräkorpi, who has experienced a difficult childhood, is in a prison cycle that gets worse over time. A desperate man begins to wonder if his life has any meaning left. Asking God for help, Taisto is trying to cope with his problems.

Antti "Zombie" Autiomaa does two things well: play the bass guitar and drink. Machine shop entrepreneur Partanen has severe work pressures and his life is messed up. The foundation of Partanen's life is work. Due to rather unfit subordinates and increasing production pressure, he decides to hire a new employee.

The father of a Finnish family brings home a cute puppy, Stormheart. No one in the family knows anything about the dog. Little by little, the mystery of Stormheart unravels and the dog's new owners learn more about him. They find out that Stormheart's parents had served as guard dogs at the Berlin Wall. Pearl, the 7-year-old daughter of the Finnish family, takes the puppy under her wing and Stormheart, who grows up to the size of a bear, undertakes the task of removing all dangers, threats and obstacles from the path of Pearl.

In the 1930s, middle-aged museum curator Tauno Saarinen yearns for a young beautiful maid and writes a lengthy confession about his feelings which he gives his wife Elisabet to read. Elisabet shows the writings to her husband's sister Naimi, an art critic who tries to reconcile with her ex-husband despite a spiteful mother-in-law. Meanwhile, things gets worse between Tauno and Elisabet when the young maid, seduced by Tauno, becomes pregnant. Based on a novel by Helvi Hämäläinen, first published in 1941 but partly censored until 1995 because allegedly based on true incidents involving well-known people.

The story of Anna, who is searching for true love and meets Lauri on Midsummer's Eve.
