A group of outsiders converges at the seedy Pension Ezequiel - live erotic performers Gervasio and Fabiola, multi-tasking dreamer Khouma, mapmaker Arcadio, letter-collector Virginia, moralist Delfín, and troubled newcomer Ana - all under the watch of the enigmatic proprietor Ezequiel. When Ezequiel dies, his passing unleashes hidden desires, rivalries, and secrets, changing the pension forever.

La que se avecina is a Spanish television comedy created by Alberto Caballero, Laura Caballero and Daniel Deorador. The TV-series focusing around the inhabitants of Mirador de Montepinar, a fictional building located on the outskirts of a big city. Both its storylines and cast are heavily based on Aquí no hay quien viva, which ended when Telecinco bought Miramón Mendi, the series production company. The episodes debuted on the Telecinco network, and were later rerun by the same network as well as cable/satellite channels FactoríaDeFicción and Paramount Comedy. The series debuted in 22 April 2007 and became popular thanks to its funny characters, witty script, use of catchphrases and capacity to integrate and poke fun at contemporary issues; the program presents a caustic satire of many of the 'types' found in Spanish society. The name of the show involves wordplay, as "vecina" is the Spanish word for neighbour.

Andrés, a young provincial who became blind during his childhood, comes to the capital with the possibility of having a transplant and recovering his sight. Upon arrival, he stays with an old friend of the family, Rogelio Molinos, who lives with his daughter Marisol. Soon a relationship is established between the two young people that makes Andrés conceive false illusions.

Pili (Nathalie Seseña), Rufi (Mireia Ros) and Nini (Malena Alterio), the companions of Maribel, truculent by nature suspicious of this relationship and begin to suspect that the provincial could be a murderer. When Maribel Marcelino asks her to marry him, they intervene and away from Marcelino and his "strange family". Adapted from the play "Maribel and the Strange Family" by Miguel Mihura.
