They are young and full of zest for life when they meet by chance in Hamburg in the fall of 1990: Tom signs on to a container ship the next morning, Katja has to return to her class. They only have this one night, but in it they experience all the happiness and sorrow of love. They promise each other to meet again on New Year's Eve 1999, the last day of the old millennium.

Simone, head of a catering company and mother of Timo and Nelly, separates from her unfaithful husband Stefan.

Berlin, 1989. Sascha is a young East German border guard and Franzi is a lively young West German woman who's just moved into a flat next to Sascha's watchtower at the Berlin Wall. It takes only a slight mishap and a selfless act of chivalry and the two fall in love. But soon the Stasi believes they are witnessing the start of a revolt. This is the time of mass protests and East Germans taking refuge in the West German embassy in Prague after all. Franzi and Sascha have to find their ways to stand up for their love and strive for the impossible; to bring down the wall.

Up to now, Nickel (9) and his single dad Thomas have been managing very well together. Then Nickel goes on a school excursion and brings the little piglet Rudy back with him in his rucksack. Once he´s home, he makes a terrifying discovery: dad has a girlfriend! Worse yet, she´s moved in with him and brought her daughter Felicitas (12) along! Nickel makes a deal with Thomas: if those two stay, then so can Rudy. When life becomes unbearable for Nickel, he flees with Rudy to ‘Porkland’, followed by Feli and pursued by two dumb crooks. It’s the beginning of an adventure that ends in the swamps of the Oder Valley, where Rudi saves the lives of the two children and finds a new home.

Flat-dwelling urban family win a pig in a raffle, and decide to keep it. They lose their flat (no pets allowed) but eventually Rudi the pig makes good.

Unemployed Hinrich Lobek spends his days at home in Berlin and sees himself as a victim of reunification. His wife, who works as an architect at Potsdamer Platz, loses patience over time. After some time, he decides to go to the employment office and is offered a job as a sales representative for the company Panta Rhein. On his first day at work, he accompanies loyal employee Uwe Strüwer through the dreary prefabricated housing estate. The two are unsuccessful in selling the "Jona" indoor fountain model.

Family Struutz lives in Bitterfeld (GDR). After the fall of the wall, they take the opportunity to go on holiday with their car, an old Trabant. They simply want to visit Italy. But there are some incidents during their journey.

Meier, a paperhanger in East Berlin, inherits from his father in West Berlin. With this money he wants to fulfil himself the dream of his life: a journey around the world. He buys a forged West German passport and pretends to go on a trip to Bulgaria while he really is off to see the free world. When he wants to return to East Berlin he finds himself in an unbelievable predicament and his double life begins. He can't keep away from his East German friends. As with all the best comedies, the action builds up to an eventual crisis. It's a light comedy, which won several national Film Academy Awards. The film is very political, with lots of political jokes/innuendos which only Germans will understand. One is left feeling what a total obscenity that stupid Wall was, dividing one people for 30 years (1-2 Generations) simply by the coincidence on where you just happen to be in the early morning on the 13th August 1961.

Life is tough on car fanatic Fred. As soon as he has convinced the beautiful hairdresser Tina, he wins an Opel Manta in a raffle and is rid of the lady immediately. From now on, Tina prefers to turn to the photographer Phil. He has what Fred always wanted: a Golf GTI. To make matters worse, he now has to listen to the mocking remarks of his fellow men at every traffic light. But Fred doesn't give up. He finally finds support in the Manta Club. In a big race he finally wants to put his rival GTI-Phil in his place.

Little Fritz Fuchs and his friend Roman Zenkert are about to recover Hannibal's legendary Alpenschatz. However, as an avalanche in the cave goes down, the jammed Fritz is ignored by his "buddy" ignominiously. Decades later, Fuchs is overtaken by his past. Because the nasty Zenkert still wants to get by all means in the possession of the treasure. After many entanglements and entanglements, the second treasure hunt in the mountains leads to a heated finale.
