The first Polish feature film about Poles murdered for aiding Jews. The plot is based on events that took place in Ciepielów between 1939 and 1942, enriched with storylines from other towns in the Mazovia region. It is a universal tale about the varied human responses to extreme challenges about the choices faced by the inhabitants of impoverished villages and small towns in the heart of Europe eight decades ago, and the terrible burden they took upon their shoulders.
