In November 1947, Wieslawa Pajdak was arrested for her activities in the anti-communist underground and sent to prison on Rakowiecka Street. A few days later, Jerzy Smiechowski was placed in the next cell. One night, they begin talking through the wall via Morse code. Although it's hard to believe, this is how they met and fell in love. They got engaged through a wall. Seven years later, they married in prison, where they met for the first time. They lived together for fifty years.

14-year-old David could one day become a judo champion - if it wasn't for his explosive temper and aggression, which he finds hard to control. And this is the only legacy he received from his violent father, currently serving time in prison. David tries to live up to his mother's expectations while taking care of his 9-year-old brother. He gets a chance to change his life when he is invited to an important judo tournament.

Ania is an apprentice at a small hairdressing parlour along with her best friend, Kasia. The two teenage girls from dysfunctional families share a common dream of becoming professional hair stylists.

In Waldek's life, filled mainly with computer games, there is a real earthquake. The beginning of 1945, Poland. In a newly liberated country, the Communist Security Service is annihilating its enemies under the guise of punishing "national traitors." They organize a labor camp for Germans, Silesians and Poles, on the site of a former Nazi concentration camp called Zgoda / Reconciliation. Franek, who is in love with the Polish prisoner Anna, goes to work as a warder in the camp to save her. He does not know that one of the prisoners - Erwin, his German friend, also loved this girl for a long time. Franek joins the communists in the illusory hope of outsmarting the system.

Arkadiusz Jakubik's directorial debut plays out on many levels. One of them is, as in the title, a simple love story. However, parallel to it and on the same footing is the reality of filmmaking.
