The Witness

The film takes place in 1938 in Western Belarus, which was part of Poland. A young peasant woman, Alesya, wants at all costs to win back a house and farm that does not belong to her for the sake of happiness with her beloved Impol, from whom she is expecting a child. Her brother Mitya, a poet, writes freedom-loving poems, for which he is summoned for interrogation and brutally beaten.

This film is war parabola with expressive visual style. This not typical point of view about the war for Soviet cinema.

Olga and Butkevich, the head of the convoy, meet at a roadside cafe. They hadn't seen each other since the beginning of the war. During the conversation, it turns out that a man with the surname of Olga's first husband, whom she considers dead, is working in the convoy. Butkevich arranges a meeting for them. Olga does not recognize him.

A love story during wartime.

The war ended a long time ago, but the wounds in the hearts of those who suffered it will take a long time to heal. This film tells the story of the "living slice" of the human soul, of the goodness that ultimately triumphs despite all the bitterness and loss.

A guy called Harlequin and his company, who call themselves "wolves", live at a stop near the city, where they often go to "relax" - in search of thrills. And they're not just bullies, at least they think they are. They beat metalheads and fascists for ideological reasons, assert their simple order based on a special kind of justice and the right of the strong. In addition, Harlequin himself tries to think about complex universal values and connect them with the way of life he leads. However, he is faced with people who have their own order, not the same as the main character. And then the party life turns into a real tragedy.
