The Third Christmas

"Third Christmas" describes the exile school "Topusko" in Veli Lošinj, where teachers and students welcome their third Christmas in exile with touching stories told by children and their parents.

The Four Seasons

The film is an omnibus consisting of three stories - "Usvojenje", "Ferije" and "Probni rok". We follow fragments of the lives of young girls from a social institution for children and young adults without parents. In the first story, a wealthy young couple wants to adopt a five-year-old girl, Zeljka. The emotionally undeveloped child has a hard time adapting to her new environment. In Ferije, fifteen-year-old Visnja spends her winter holidays in a gloomy home for young delinquents, where she experiences her first romance. The heroine of the third story is nineteen-year-old Branka who, after her graduation, tries to find a job and become independent from the social institutions she has lived in her entire life.

Accidental Life

Two friends try to tear out their lives from the clutches of idle. An existential study of ordinary lives led by two alienated urban white collar workers, Accidental Life was the only feature film of Ante Peterlić, Croatian film theorist and film critic. The film received mediocre reviews and went largely unnoticed after its release, but has been reevaluated decades later as one of the best Croatian films ever made.

Splendid Isolation

Film is based on a strict social opposition between two ‘hotels’ in Zagreb (Esplanada and Shelter), which are only 100 meters away, but also on the relation of color and black and white and 16 mm and 35 mm film.

Recital

The film shows celebration of Day of the Republic., held in the village of Novigrad Podravski (Croatia) in 1972. The performers were pupils of the elementary school, members of the local amateur theater, and one soldier.

Playtime

The girl Nevenka spends time alone in the apartment, with her mother’s instructions on how to make lunch and spend the day in the form of a note on the table in the dining room. One of the tasks is to memorize the song "Slap" by Dobriša Cesarić.

Mariska Band

The musical band Mariška band conquered the audience during the eighties. This documentary describes the life of Mariška Holoubek (1904-1993) from Koprivnica, a versatile self-taught musician who played several instruments, and gained her greatest popularity as the violinist of the music group Mariška Band, which she founded at the age of 76. Caregiver

We follow a caregiver who takes care of the elderly and infirm.

The Return

The girl Milka was found at the Zagreb airport while trying to escape from Yugoslavia to her aunt in Germany. A social worker tries to place her in a home for neglected children, and then gives her back to her divorced parents.
