Queens of the Stone Age - Nuits de Fourvière 2023

From his earliest recordings with Roxy Music at the beginning of the 1970s, Bryan Ferry has taken his place as one of the most iconic and innovative musicians and songwriters to emerge in popular music. Ferry s Olympia tour travelled the world in 2011, including this spectacular performance filmed on July 25 at the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Lyon, France as part of the Nuits de Fourviere Festival. The show features tracks from across Ferry s 40 year career including classic Roxy Music songs, solo hits and his renowned interpretations of other writer s material all delivered with the style and panache that is uniquely Bryan Ferry.

The concert took place in the unique setting of the Roman Theaters of Fourvière. Simple Minds' concert at Les Nuits de Fourvière was a highlight of the 2024 edition of the festival. Bassist and composer Kyle Eastwood reunites his quintet with the Orchestre National de Lyon to pay tribute to the career of his father, legendary actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, in a concert combining jazz, classical music and cinema, held at the auditorium of the Orchestre National de Lyon on October 19, 2022.

The centerpiece of this DVD is a 90-minute concert by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, performing live in Lyon, France, in the summer of 2001 during a European tour in support of the album No More Shall We Part. Its mature and emotive textures dominate this show, which means if you're hoping to see Cave whipping himself into a frenzy while Blixa Bargeld rattles the walls with his guitar, well, you're out of luck. However, this footage proves that, in more subtle form, Cave is still a magnetic and compelling performer and that the Bad Seeds have grown into a singularly gifted ensemble who bring just the right amount of drama and force to Cave's superb songs (with guitarist Mick Harvey and violinist Warren Ellis taking top honors at this performance). Beautifully shot, intelligently edited, and boasting crisp and full-bodied audio, God Is in the House is a fine document of Cave and his collaborators on a good night.

The atmosphere of GOTAN PROJECT's live performance at the CASINO DE PARIS has been captured here in High Definition for your enjoyment by the award winning music filmmaker Fabien Raymond. For the past decade, GOTAN PROJECT have been taking their music to tango lovers around the world. A GOTAN PROJECT show is a total sensual experience, enhanced by the stunningly evocative visuals of Prisca Lobjoy, whose work as GOTAN PROJECT's artistic director has played an integral part in shaping the GOTAN aesthetic right from the start. Lobjoy's stage visuals offer the viewer a landscape rich with fragmented, abstracted images that literally pulse with the music as if caught in the dance. We see dancers fall from the sky, a golden girl swings back and forth, surreal fairy tales unfold before one's eyes.
