Dashyu Ratnakar who kills the travelers for wealth for support and maintenance of his family. When suggested by Narad Muni to esquire his family members i.e. his father, mother, wife and children if they would receive some portions of his vice which he had done for their maintenance, Ratnakar is astonished by their replies. They all replied that it is his (Ratnakar's) duty to maintain his family. They are not responsible for the method by which Ratnakar earned money. At that reply Ratnakar was deeply shocked, promised to shun all his means of vices and achieved sage-hood through deep penance. He later transformed into Maharshi Valmiki who wrote the great epic Ramayana.

Sarojini and Nilambar Roy were in love. But eventually Nilambar refused to marry Sarojini and radiated malicious rumours in her name. Sarojini commit suicide. Sarojini's elder brother Barada Pattanaik could not take his sister's tragic death easily. Decades later, in order to restore peace between the family, Siddharth Ray, the elder son of Nilambar Ray asks for Barada Pattanaik's niece Shaila's hand for his younger brother Partha. Shaila becomes Ray family's daughter in law at the age of twelve. Barada Pattanaik still seeks revenge and hence concocts plans to destroy the Ray Family.

The plot revolves around a series of flashbacks that reveal a judge's past and hidden secrets. Gyanendra, a judge, lives with his wife Sarama. Being the Judge, every time he has a trial of similar cases he remembers his past, the truth about his questionable actions. Gyanendra always recalls when he was a popular lawyer, married to Sumoti, a suspicious and rude lady. But he had a weak feeling for his professor's daughter Sarama. One day Gyanendra's house was burnt and his first wife Sumoti died. Gyanendra could not make any attempt to save her, perhaps he was unable to bear Sumati further. Thereafter he marries Sarama and becomes a judge but he realizes his crime and his past haunts him much.
