Kadarwati, a young Javanese student in 1940s Singapore, is forced to become a 'comfort woman' by the occupying Japanese military

Dadang's family, which has three sons, accepted Bugi to stay at his house. Bugi, Dadang's younger brother, whose parents both died. Bugi's appearance and boyishness have become the subject of ridicule for many people, both at school and in social circles. Even at home, Narsih, Dadang's wife, teases and cynics Bugi. A math and sports teacher, Zein, has another attitude toward Bugi. Zein tries to change Bugi's behavior. But other teachers, Bugi friends, and Bugi themselves misinterpreted. Iwan, a high school student, loses his bajaj-driver father because the jeep of Dance Lintang, a famous singer, runs him down. Iwan’s pregnant mother has to work hard. Iwan has been singing on the streets for money, and now he gets help from his younger siblings who sell newspapers. But his mother passes away when she gives birth to her last child so Iwan vows to raise his siblings. But when he cannot afford it, he puts his siblings in the orphanage. Then when his girlfriend Tia yells at him for doing that, he instinctively runs off with his siblings. He is imprisoned as a result but a journalist, Miftah, who knows his talent, bails him out. Iwan decides to quit school and Miftah manages to record him. Dance is furious when he hears that Iwan is making a record. He approaches the producer and destroys the recording tape. Then Dance gets arrested for narcotics while Iwan’s record is a major hit, so he brings his siblings home from the orphanage.

Del’s mother opposes her romance with Iyan, especially when she also gets pregnant.

Mimi’s parents forbid her to have a relationship with Tibor as she is going to be married. When she enters university, Mimi meets a senior who happens to be Yos. At first, Mimi doesn’t know her parents’ plan for Yos to be her future husband. But then she notices her family’s kind attitude towards Yos. Then her sister tells her who Yos is. Mimi does not expect this and she declares her break up with Yos. She refuses arranged marriage eventhough Yos has declared that he sincerely loves her. She tries to get close to another student to forget Yos. Then one day Yos has an accident while rock climbing. From the accident, Mimi realises that Yos is everything to her.

The film tells a story about Mona who goes missing in then jungles of Kalimantan. The boyfriend is sent to find her by Mona’s father, but it turns out that the boyfriend has an evil intention; he wants to take control of the wealth of Mona’s family. The adventure in the jungle of Kalimantan becomes the main focus of the film.
