Forestry workers isolated by winter on a mountaintop. Loves, longings, nostalgias and vital questions. From the first film, Cărmăzan reveals his inclination towards a certain magical surrealism that he later develops.

The tranquility of a small seaside town is disturbed by a strange event: some vagrants try to rape a girl. A young man jumps to her defense. Intre cei doi se infiripa an idila, pana cand his past seems to sail over the present with cynicism and impatience. A strange mystery floats between them, until the day he is found dead and the girl decides to unravel the mystery of his disappearance.

Lișcă is a woman who awaits the return of her husband from war, only he is long overdue. Many callers come, yet she holds on to the hope her husband will return.

Căpălău, a peasant in a village near Brăila, tries to keep up with the turns of life. Based on "Ningea în Bărăgan” novel by Fănuș Neagu.

Being forced into prostitution by her father, she finds solace in her friends and her journal.

At an old age, prince Andrei Morudzi retreats to his castle in Romania, during the two world wars, after having lead an eventful youth. There he is seen upon as a rare bird by the local folk, due to his strange attitude towards life and his exquisit manners, which don't fit in the way of life of the villagers. But, in the end, despite trying to distance himself from the local people, he can't but influence their humble existences.

Robert is a complete loser. He wants nothing from life except one thing; to have enough courage to kill himself. But one day everything changes, because Robert saved a man's life.

A reporter from the Scânteia newspaper arrives in the small mountain town of Bocșa to document the abuses committed many years ago, in 1962, by the headmaster of the town's high school, with the complicity of local authorities.
