In the remote Romanian village of Catane, a community of villagers, long surviving on disability benefits obtained through ambiguous means, faces exposure when a local inquiry descends. What unfolds is not a story of deception, but of unexpected ingenuity as the villagers craft a disarmingly poetic and humorous response to the absurdities of a broken system. In reinventing their way of life, they reveal not only a means of survival—but a radical model of communal resilience in a fractured world.

At a swanky hotel in a Black Sea resort, Gogu, one of the hotel employees, meets his uncle Marin, an Oltenian peasant who has come to visit. Gogu says he can sneak Marin into the hotel, as one of the rooms is empty awaiting the arrival of an American billionaire, Mr. Juvett. Marin is amazed by the revealing clothing worn by women at the resort, while the hotel guests are fascinated by his quaint peasant costume. In the hotel room, Marin is perplexed by the various gadgets. Meanwhile, the gangsters learn that Juvett has arrived at the hotel. Juvett is the father of the kidnapped girl, and is coming to pass over a million dollar ransom. A rival gang, who know about the kidnapping, plan to take the ransom for themselves. They follow Marin, believing him to be Juvett.

Three children each plan to bring an extraordinary event from their vacation. Their adventures are not necessarily extraordinary, but the children have something to learn from them and they will be left with fond memories.

An important man, always in a hurry, but especially when behind the wheel, runs over a strange pedestrian: a young globe-trotting, absent-minded young man who is treading firmly, but in the wrong place, on the wide road. After hesitating for a moment, the man behind the wheel turns back to the scene and can't find his victim. Out of nowhere, however, the victim appears in the man's life, upsetting an entire family with dramatic and comic-sentimental entanglements.
