October 1941. The young surgeon Vera Treshnikova is forced, in the name of saving many lives, to become the head of a German hospital for civilians, where she continued her underground struggle against the Germans. And now, after the liberation of the city, she is suspected of aiding and abetting the Nazis.

At the peak of the harvesting season, when there is a shortage of machinery and the new one needed adjustment, the chairman of the collective farm entrusts the combine harvesters to the Steppe Squadron of high school students. Only two of them run away from the hard work, the rest carry the labor watch under Sergey Lotarev till the very end with honor. Having learned that his favorite girl betrayed him and began to openly accept the advances of a visiting student, Lotarev decides to leave for the city, but suddenly a hurricane struck the village - and the hero rushes to the aid of his underaged brigade....

The first part "Zhenya" tells about a boy Zhenya, who goes to kindergarten. The story tells about his relationship with his peers and how he was unfairly punished. Will he be able to act manly in this situation? The second part "Buba" is about a 11-year-old musician from a Georgian village, who one day is given a chance to prove himself among adult musicians - he is offered to replace one of the members of an amateur orchestra.
